Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect after I complete the initial application?
Applications are reviewed on a first come first serve basis. After completion of the written application, a MiM team member will reach out to you in the following 2 weeks to schedule the follow-up interview.
What can I expect after the interview?
After the interview, the MiM team will review both your written application and interview notes and conduct a search in our diverse reservoir of mentors to find the one that best fits you. Application reviews take approximately 2 weeks to complete. Please feel free to Contact Us if you have not received any updates about your application after 2 weeks.
How will I know that my mentor will be a good match?
Here at MiM, we strive to find a mentor that best reflects some, if not all, of your specific interest in a mentor. Whether that be looking for someone who could help with general guidance or identifies as a part of a specific population, all will be taken into consideration. If you feel that your mentor is not the best fit, then please reach us through our Contact Us page.
How often do I meet with my mentor?
Mentors volunteer at least 1 hour/ month to meet with their mentee via Zoom (video call), phone call, or in person. When first connected to your mentor, they will reach out to you to determine which platform to connect may be most convenient for both parties.
Other than the mandatory once-a-month meeting, we encourage flexibility on how often you wish to meet and how so. Mentors may be open to text, email, and additional meetings so please feel free to coordinate that with your mentor.

What can I expect after I complete the initial application?
A MiM team member will review your application and be appropriately stored in our records. When we find a mentee that we believe can benefit from meeting you, you will be notified by email.
How soon can I expect to be paired with a mentee?
Since it may depend on the number of mentees that we have, we cannot ensure a specific time for when you will be paired with a mentee. However, it is also important that all mentors also have the chance to meet with a mentee and your application will be routinely reviewed.
How can I know that my mentee will be a good match?
Here at MiM, we strive to create intentional relationships between mentors and mentees. When you are notified of being connected with a mentee, you will also receive a corresponding short introduction to each of the mentees detailing WHY you were paired together. If you feel that your mentee is not the best fit, then please reach us through our Contact Us page.
How often do I need to meet with my mentee?
MiM requires at least 1 hour/month to meet with your mentee via Zoom (video call), phone call, or in person. Since we understand that as medical students, time may be limited, we encourage flexibility. Please determine with your mentee the best means of communication (text, emails, phone call, Zoom, etc.) and the frequency outside of the mandatory meetings.
